PHILOSOPHY OF TEACHING
EXPERIENCE
My roles as professor and researcher, coupled with my graduate and post-doctoral experience, have revealed to me the profound impact that a good teacher can have toward a student’s overall development.
While teaching, I am in direct contact with students: I stimulate their critical thinking and increase their professional self-confidence, help them to become inventive and capable of holding leadership roles. I guide them in their learning journey, motivate them to rely on their own thinking and researches. Most interestingly, teaching in the pharmaceutical field, specifically microbiology, gives the opportunity to explore principles that are meaningful and relevant to one's life and interests. I often rely on this to stimulate the motivation of students while taking into consideration their different backgrounds, what they have already learned and what they will need tolearn in the future.
An important element of my teaching philosophy is encouraging at the same time written, oral and practical work. Accordingly, I engage students in my courses to laboratory work that becomes an integral part of student development. In addition, I highly encourage self-learning projects built on discussion of scientific articles that stimulate thinking and self-confidence.
